For SMEs reporting the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the use of data, there are three important focus areas which were highlighted in a meeting between the GRI and its governmental donors.
The meeting, held earlier this month, gathered GRI regional managers and directors and the representatives of the governments funding GRI: Australia, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK.
The meeting outlined three areas where GRI should strengthen its actions in order to develop a sustainable reporting landscape in the emerging markets:
- Enabling small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to report on their sustainability impacts
- Advancing corporate reporting on the (SDGs)
- Maximizing the use of data in decision making
GRI already has strategic partnerships and programs with government agencies targeting the three areas outlined in the donor’s meeting. Also, this month it launched another of such programs with Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).
