Kampala (Uganda) / London (UK). The Pan African Federation of Accountants (PAFA) has elected Koos du Toit, CEO of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Namibia, as its president for a two year mandate.

Previously, Du Toit has been PAFA’s vice president for the last two years and has been involved with the federation since its inception and was part of the founding team.  The Cameroonian institute (Ordre National des Experts Comptables du Cameroun – ONECCA) president Leonard Ambassaof was elected vice president.

The election took place at PAFA’s annual general meeting (AGM), held on the side-lines of the African Congress of Accountants 2017 (ACOA17), where PAFA members also elected a new board.

The new board is made of representatives of the following professional bodies:

  • South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA)
  • Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN)
  • Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN)
  • Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK)
  • South African Institute of Professional Accountants (SAIPA)
  • Institute of Certified Public Accountants Uganda (ICPAU)
  • Ordre des Experts Comptables du Royaume du Maroc (OEC)
  • Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA)
  • Ordre National des Experts Comptables de la République Démocratique du Congo (ONEC – DR CONGO)
  • Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ghana (ICAG)

In addition three board members will be co-opted by the elected board.

According to the PAFA constitution, only the president and vice president are elected as individuals. The rest of the board is made of institutes who may change their representatives as they so choose.
