Philippe Arraou has been elected as the new president of the French Institute of Chartered Accountants (CSOEC), effective 11 March.
Prior to his election Arraou was the vice-president for European and international affairs at CSOEC and he will take over from Joseph Zorgniotti for a two-year mandate.
Arraou was elected by the CSOEC high council which counts 69 members themselves elected by the institute’s members every 4 years.
With this new appointment the French institute anticipates to see a rise in its international profile, as European and international affairs are at the core of Arraou’s agenda.
Prior to the election, a CSOEC staff told The Accountant that international issues are Arraou’s main concern and favourite subject.
This was quickly confirmed by Arraou himself, who commenting on his election said: "My action will be firmly focused on the international dimension of the profession."
