CPA Australia has been appointed as the latest
member of the International Integrated Reporting Council
(IIRC).

The IIRC, chaired by Mervyn King, brings
together corporates, investors, accounting firms, regulators and
other stakeholders from around the world in an effort to create a
framework for a more sustainable global economy.

CPA Australia chief executive Alex Malley said
the institute’s appointment to the IIRC is a significant milestone
for the accounting profession in Australia and indicates its
significance on the global stage.

“Accountants perform critical roles within
corporations in the allocation of resources – financial, material
and intellectual – and are the custodians of information that
drives related decisions. Integrated reporting is a part of the
evolution of the accountant’s role,” Malley said.
