The Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA) and the Sarawak Centre of Performance Excellence (SCOPE) have formalised a partnership to deliver the MICPA x CA ANZ Qualifying Programme in Kuching, Malaysia, reported Sarawak Tribune.
The alliance between MICPA and CA ANZ began in 2009, with the agreement to offer this joint qualifying programme.
This alliance was made with the intention to strengthen the accountancy profession in Malaysia and boosts MICPA’s global recognition.
According to SCOPE CEO Joseph Lim, the latest partnership marks the formalisation of a bond as well as signifying a joint effort to enhance Sarawak’s human capital for future prosperity.
The partnership leverages MICPA’s professional accounting expertise and SCOPE’s regional insights and networks, creating a platform for developing future leaders in Sarawak.
The first intake for the MICPA qualification is scheduled for April 2025 at SCOPE.
Joseph Lim was quoted by the media outlet as saying: “MICPA, with its longstanding legacy of producing top-tier accountants, has been instrumental in shaping Malaysia’s financial landscape. SCOPE, on the other hand, has championed the cause of professional development in Sarawak, with a strong emphasis on equipping local talents with globally recognised competencies.”
“This collaboration will lead also to the implementation of training programmes that enhance technical skills, professional ethics, and leadership capabilities, tailored to meet the unique needs of Sarawak. It also sets the stage for addressing emerging challenges such as digital transformation, ESG compliance, and global economic shifts, ensuring that Sarawak’s professionals remain competitive on both national and international levels.”
The timing of the MoU coincides with Sarawak’s implementation of its Post-Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.
