The Korea Institute of Certified Public Accountants (KICPA) is set to unveil “ChatCPA (Beta),” an AI accounting service designed to provide its members with knowledge on accounting and taxation.

This marks the first AI offering that members can use in their work, reported Maeil Business Newspaper.

ChatCPA is a project between the KICPA and the Youth CPA.

The beta version features resources including K-IFRS accounting standards, a question and answer database, and roughly 260,000 tax law-related rules and precedents.

The institute has committed to augmenting this platform with additional professional information essential for practitioners.

Accounting and tax regulations are said to be subject to frequent updates, sometimes biannually.

ChatCPA is expected to reduce the time required for professionals to search for and analyse information that reflects these changes.

The service is designed to provide reliable responses, citing sources and justifications for the answers generated by large-scale language models to queries posed in natural language.

This hybrid search technology combines text and vector search to interpret the searcher’s intent, delivering relevant results.

With the introduction of ChatCPA’s beta version, the Korean CPA aims to spearhead digital innovation in the accounting and taxation fields using AI technology,.

KICPA chairman Choi Un-yeol said: “AI is a powerful tool that supports accounting work to be performed more efficiently and professionally, and AI utilisation will be an essential competency for accountants in the future.

“The Korea Institute of Certified Public Accountants will continue to provide various support to accountants to increase the efficiency of their work and create greater value through AI.”

The institute plans to actively seek feedback from its members to enhance the service further, ensuring that it remains a practical tool for increasing productivity and adapting to the evolving professional landscape.
