
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has announced the appointment of Charanjot Singh Nanda as its 73rd president for the term 2025-26.
D Prasanna Kumar, also a chartered accountant (CA), has been named the vice-president.
Nanda brings more than three decades of experience as a practicing CA to his new role as president.
He began his career in 1991, after obtaining his Bachelor of Commerce degree from M.L.N. College in 1987 and his chartered accountancy qualification four years later.
Nanda was first elected to the Central Council of ICAI in 2004 and has served six terms.
Prior to his presidency, he held the position of vice president during the year 2024-25.
This leadership transition saw prior president Ranjeet Kumar Agarwal passing the presidential baton to Nanda, who in turn handed over the role of vice-president to Prasanna Kumar D.
Prasanna Kumar D, has a bachelor’s degree in Zoology from Loyola College and a master’s degree in Sociology from Sri Venkateswara University.
A fellow Member of ICAI, Prasanna Kumar D has served on the Central Council for three consecutive terms, including the 24th, 25th, and 26th councils.
State (I/C) for Law & Justice and Parliamentary Affairs minister Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal administered the latest oath of office.
He said, “I am confident that under your able leadership, India will move closer to realising the vision of Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji to become the world’s third-largest economy.”
Earlier in February 2025, the ICAI received approval from its Central Council to set up the ICAI International alternative dispute resolution (ADR) Centre throughout India via its branch network.
This initiative aims to offer a cost-effective solution for the resolution of commercial disputes to businesses, professionals, and organisations.
