Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) designation has been awarded to more than 100 new candidates in Gaborone, Botswana.

This took place at a convocation held by American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), together as The Association of International Certified Professional Accountants.

This recognition is expected to meet the growing demand for skilled accounting and finance professionals within the Botswana economy, reported Bizcommunity.

The CGMA designation, established in 2012 by AICPA and CIMA, is claimed to be a verification to the high standard of quality and competence in the field of management accounting.

It is designed to help professionals have necessary business, digital, people, and leadership skills to thrive in their careers in accounting, business, and finance.

AICPA & CIMA Botswana country director Letus Chinyepi said: “Our CGMA candidates and CIMA members are at the heart of everything we do, recognising and celebrating their achievements is always a significant moment for us. It is great to see how far they have come while studying for CIMA’s CGMA Professional Qualification in order to earn the CGMA designation.

“Their dedication and hard work are truly commendable, and we are proud to support them on their journey to becoming accounting, finance, and business leaders who will benefit the Botswana economy.”

This development follows closely on the heels of AICPA & CIMA’s announcement of the Registered Apprenticeship for Accounting and Finance Associate earlier in September 2024.

This programme is aimed at strengthening the accountancy talent pipeline through an “earn and learn” model.
