The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) has announced leadership changes within its Dhaka Regional Committee (DRC), which have been effective from 1 January 2025.
Mohammad Refaul Karim Chowdhury has been elected as chairman, and Mahmudur Rahman as secretary of DRC-ICAB.
As a fellow member of the ICAB, IFA (UK), and IPA (Australia), Chowdhury has been a chartered accountant (CA) since 2011.
His professional portfolio includes roles such as VAT consultant, Microsoft certified trainer, and certified financial modeler and valuation analyst.
He currently serves as DGM-Finance at Transcom Distribution Company and has experience across various sectors including telecommunication, ITES, RMG, real estate, and autonomous bodies.
Chowdhury’s expertise encompasses company affairs, secretarial work, IPO preparation, tax planning, financial modeling, business intelligence, and ERP systems integration and implementation.

He is also a founder member of the Bangladesh VAT Bar Association and an active participant in various ICAB committees.
Mahmudur Rahman, director (Assurance and Advisory) at ACNABIN Chartered Accountants, qualified as a CA in 2012.
He is a member of DRC-ICAB and several other committees and serves as a resource person at the ICAB Academic Campus, professional institutions, and universities.
Rahman holds an MBA and BBA with a major in Accounting and Information System from the University of Dhaka and has completed ACMA from the UK.
He is also the Treasurer of the Accounting Alumni at the University of Dhaka since 2014.
Last month, the ICAB elected Maria Howlader FCA as president and Md. Johirul Islam as vice president.
They assumed their respective offices on 1 January 2025 and will serve for a period as per the CA Order-1973.
