A recent survey conducted by CareersinAudit.com has found that more than two-thirds (69%) of audit and governance professionals are planning to change jobs within the next 12 months.

The survey sought insights into the factors influencing job moves among professionals in the sector.

Of those surveyed, 35% indicated they were actively seeking a new position immediately, while another 34% are planning to make a move in the coming year.

Among those aged 41 and over, 60% plan to move within the next six months, compared to 43% of professionals aged between 26 and 40.

This survey finds that the primary reason professionals are looking to move is to secure promotions and pay raises.

A quarter (25%) of respondents stated they have not received either in their current roles, prompting them to search for new opportunities.

This shift in motivations contrasts with data collected in 2019, when only 17% cited promotions and pay raises as the main reasons for leaving their jobs.

Over the past five years, working in-house or exploring roles in different sectors has seen notable growth, rising from 8% to 20%, the report said.

CareersinAudit.com director and the Careers in Group specialist job board’s Simon Wright said: “The fact that the majority of professionals in the audit and governance industries will be looking for new roles in the near future should be a huge concern for employers across the sectors. As with any industry, keeping employees motivated and happy in their roles is crucial to retaining top talent, and also attracting new people to join.

“Regular 1-2-1s and performance reviews, providing clear career progression paths and incentivising employees with additional benefits including work-life-balance and homeworking options, as well as regular pay increases, are just some of the areas that should be implemented to prevent professionals from seeking pastures new.”
