The Instituto de Censores Jurados de Cuentas de España (ICJCE), one of Spain’s accounting institutes, has appointed Mario Alonso as new president.
Alonso is also the chairman and founding partner of Auren, Spain’s seventh largest accounting network, according to The Accountant’s sister publication International Accounting Bulletin.
Alonso said he is committed to supporting smaller audit firms as "they would need more assistance from the institute in areas such as technical and legal advice, as well as professional training".
Alonso said the profession should be united and promote "integrity" and "independence" as underlying principles of the audit work.
The ICJCE has 5.200 members, all of them are auditors.
