The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) has announced its objectives for 2025, with a focus on supporting digital transformation, improved service quality, and better networking among its members, reported The Sun

The announcement was made by ICAN registrar and CEO Lanre Olasunkanmi during the institute’s first-ever team bonding retreat in Lagos.

Olasunkanmi highlighted that a major priority for ICAN in 2025 is adopting technology with the launch of a ‘Digital Institute’.

It is expected to enable seamless interaction among members, regardless of the location.

He said: “All work without play makes not only Jack a dull boy but also ICAN staff dull people. This retreat is a chance to bond and build teamwork in a relaxed mood.”

The retreat provided an environment for staff and their families to engage in various activities and games on the beach.

It was designed to foster stronger interpersonal connections and promote a healthy work-life balance, an aspect Olasunkanmi highlighted as integral to the institute’s corporate culture.

The event also highlighted ICAN’s 2024 successes.

The registrar noted strong programme results and emphasised a focus on an ‘aggressive turnaround’ in 2025 to surpass past achievements.

He further noted: “We will show the world that we have been on the ground for the past 60 years, delivering quality programmes and service.”

Earlier in December 2024, ICAN welcomed 1,785 new members at its 74th induction ceremony.

ICAN president Davidson Alaribe underscored the contributions these new members are expected to make in the field of accountancy.
