Global audit, tax and consulting network RSM has invested in the next generation of network leaders through its latest RSM Academy programme.

This initiative aims to empower delegates with the knowledge and skills needed to lead international engagements while delivering seamless and high-quality services to the global middle market.

This year, 196 future leaders from 55 RSM member companies worldwide participated in the RSM Academy.

The programme began with a range of globally focused courses including relationship building and developing cultural intelligence and awareness.

These sessions aimed to prepare delegates for leadership roles in an increasingly interconnected world.

Following the initial courses, delegates were divided into four regions – Europe and North America (East Coast), Africa and MENA, Asia-Pacific and Central Asia, and Latin and North America (West Coast).

Within these regions, the teams competed in a simulated client tender, working as cross-border and cross-functional units.

The teams were tasked with understanding a scenario company’s context, organisational needs and key personnel requirements.

Their goal was to pitch a proof of credentials to a simulated client.

RSM International CEO E.J. Nedder said: “Our RSM Academy delegates, and the wider RSM family, are critical in driving our organisation towards our vision to be known globally for delivering innovative solutions, lasting value and confidence.

“This year’s delegates have demonstrated they are our leaders of the future, possessing curiosity, a collaborative spirit and critical thinking skills to support clients in an ever-changing global business landscape.”

After early pitching rounds, dozens of teams were narrowed down to four finalists, one from each region, who then presented to a globally comprised board.

The Asia-Pacific team comprising Rebecca Barnes, Cath Ciprio from RSM Australia, Harry Mulyadi from RSM Indonesia, Kenji Suzuki from RSM Japan and My Truong from RSM Vietnam, delivered the winning pitch.

RSM Australia national grants manager Rebecca Barnes said: “The requirement for cross-cultural teamwork was a powerful element of RSM Academy.”

Earlier this month, Konrad Bukowski-Kruszyna, RSM UK Audit Data Analytics director, emphasised the importance of ongoing reviews of AI outputs to ensure effective partnerships with AI.
