The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) has announced in an Instagram post that it has appointed Datuk Zaiton Mohd Hassan as its vice-president.
Hassan is currently the CEO of the Malaysia Professional Accountancy Centre, a non-profit organisation focused on supporting students from underprivileged backgrounds in pursuing careers in finance.
She served as the Chair of ACCA Malaysia Advisory Committee before her election to ACCA’s Council in 2016.
In addition to her new role, she holds several senior non-executive director positions, including chairing GX Bank, Malaysia’s first digital bank.
Her previous roles include serving as deputy chair of the International Federation of Accountants Professional Accountants in Business Committee.
Hassan said: “I’m pleased and honoured to be appointed as vice president of ACCA. I am looking forward to my continuing involvement with this important global body.

This appointment follows the recent election of Ayla Majid from Pakistan as the president of ACCA.
Majid, a sustainability strategist and Planetive Middle East and Planetive Pakistan founder and CEO, has over two decades of experience in various sectors, including energy and corporate governance, to her role.
She is the first member from Pakistan and South Asia to lead ACCA and joined the body in 2006.
Hassan joins a leadership team alongside Majid and Melanie Proffitt, deputy president and chief financial officer of Farncombe Estate, a hotel group in England.
